On the occasion of the International Francophonie Day (20 March 2019) and the Egypt – France Cultural Year 2019, the BA Center of Francophone Activities (CAF) organizes its annual conference, entitled “Francophone Arts and Cultures: Contribution to Modernity” on 6 and 7 March 2019. The conference is held in cooperation with the Embassy of France, the Embassy of Switzerland, the Consulate General of France in Alexandria, the Agence universitaire de la Francophonie (Francophonie University Association), Senghor University, Institut français d'Egypte, the French Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Egypt, Génial Publishing House, the International Business Driving License (IBDL) and TV5 Maghreb Orient.
The conference tackles different issues on the impact of art and culture on the economy, tourism, architecture, ethics and creativity, and hosts many remarkable public figures, ambassadors and consuls from Egypt and Francophone countries.
The closing session of the conference includes several activities celebrating the Francophonie Day, such as concerts, seminars and theatrical performances given by school and university students, in addition to the Zouglou folkloric dance from Côte d'Ivoire.
It is worth mentioning that certificates and prizes will be handed out at the end of the conference to the winners of the Francophone Arts and Culture Competition that was announced last January. Prizes will be also given to the winners of the Dictation Competition, which is held on the first day of the conference, before its opening session.
