Member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of China’s Communist Party in a Visit to the BA

Prof. Ahmed Zayed, Director of the Bibliotheca Alexandrina, has received Mr. Li Shule, Member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Chinese Communist Party, and a high-level accompanying delegation.
Dr. Zayed welcomed the guests and stressed that Egypt and China share a common denominator, as they are two countries with a long-standing cultural history that had a significant impact on successive human civilizations.
The delegation toured the BA and listened to a detailed explanation of the history of the Library, the idea of its revival, and its distinctive architectural design.
Mr. Shule expressed his interest in the rare manuscripts and collections of the Antiquities Museum and took photos of them. He also presented Dr. Zayed with a number of symbolic gifts that reflect the Chinese civilization, as Dr. Zayed, in turn, gifted him a miniature of the Library and the book The Photographic Memory of Alexandria in English.
