Posted on

The BA Women Studies and Social Transformation Program, in collaboration with the Arab Network for Women in Science and Technology, has published the seventh issue of Hypatia magazine, which is entirely dedicated to celebrating the achievements of Arab women in marine and ocean sciences, under the title “Arab Women Explore the Depths of the Oceans.”

This issue continues the magazine's mission to highlight the paths of leadership and empowerment of Arab women in various scientific disciplines.

It includes a special interview with Bahraini scientist Reem Al-Mealla, who recounts her inspiring story, which began with a childhood passion for space and led to a career in marine biology through her studies and research in Britain and Madagascar and her current efforts to document Arabic environmental terminology.

The issue also features a special coverage of events celebrating International Women’s Day and Girls in Science in a number of Arab countries, including Egypt, Algeria, Qatar, and the United Arab Emirates, where events, workshops, and panel discussions were organized to highlight women's empowerment in STEM fields.
