Dr. Ahmed Zayed, Director of the Bibliotheca Alexandrina, welcomed this morning Mr. Andrej Plenković, the Prime Minister of the Republic of Croatia, as part of his official visit to Egypt.

The Prime Minister toured the Library and learned about its most remarkable collections and projects. He then delivered a lecture entitled "The Mediterranean: Our Common Heritage, Our Joint Future.”

Dr. Ahmed Zayed stressed the fact that the relationship between Egypt and Croatia is strong and strategic, and that culture reflects the interest in building people and achieving peace amid existing world conflicts.

In his speech, Mr. Andrej Plenković said that he is proud to stand today inside the Bibliotheca Alexandrina, which carries the legacy of one of the largest centers of knowledge in history. He noted that, since its revival in 2002, the Library has remained a beacon of knowledge and culture exchange, and a proof that civilizations thrive not only by strength, but also by wisdom, dialogue, and the pursuit of knowledge.
