"The People and the Library of Alexandria" Exhibition

The Bibliotheca Alexandrina took part in the inauguration of "The People and The Library of Alexandria" exhibition, which took place in Oslo, on 12 September 2024. The Library was represented by the Alexandria and Mediterranean Research Center (Alex Med) and the Visits Department, and participated in the event at the invitation of the Norwegian architectural firm Snøhetta, one of the most prominent architectural firms in the world, which took on the design of the BA building.

The exhibition showcases the BA lasting social impact and presents a rich tapestry of personal narratives, photographs and interviews, a miniature of the BA building, as well as a collection of historical photographs and documents from the archives of the architectural firm Snøhetta.

The opening ceremony was attended by Dr. Gamal Abdel Rahim Metwally, Egypt's Ambassador to Norway, along with a number of representatives of cultural centers and libraries in Oslo. The Bibliotheca Alexandrina was represented by Ms. Yasmine Kelada, Head of the Visits Department; Eng. Mohamed Al-Awwad, Deputy Director of the Alexandria and Mediterranean Research Center; and Ms. Sabrina Ghorayeb, External Relations Specialist at the Center.
